Quarterback breaks paper plane record

An American football quarterback has broken the world record for throwing a paper aeroplane.Joe Ayoob, 27, threw the paper dart 226ft and 10ins - breaking the old record by nearly 20ft.Designed by John Collins, the paper plane was made from 100gsm, A4 paper and a tiny piece of sticky tape.Cheers of celebration and relief went up after the new Guinness World Record was secured inside a hangar at McClellan Air Force Base near Sacramento, California.

Ayoob said: "I grew up making paper airplanes. I used to make paper airplanes and throw them all the way home from school when I was little."So it was kind of up my alley. I thought it was a cool idea. Some people might think, 'What's the big deal? It's just a paper airplane.' But it's a world record."It took a lot of time for John, and it took a lot of time for me working with John to achieve this. It's very rewarding, and I'm very proud of this record."
