Donkey eats his buyer's money in Algeria; case in Supreme Court

A donkey at an Algerian market ate the money of a man who came to buy him, making the unfortunate buyer and the owner wonder who the animal belongs to, an Algerian newspaper reported. Al Shuruk al Yawmi, a newspaper published in the northern Algerian town of Tizi Ouzou, said the customer and the seller were traditionally bargaining for price for too long and failed to notice the donkey consuming the stack of banknotes meant as a payment for him. Neither the Tizi Ouzou district court nor the city court were able to make a ruling that would satisfy both parties, so the case was passed on to the Algerian Supreme Court in the hope that it will resolve the bitter dispute.

Scilly parking ticket prank

Residents on the Isles of Scilly complained after being given parking tickets on New Years Day - only to discover it was prank by a local reveller.Police on St Mary's, the largest of the five islands off the coast of Cornwall, were accused of 'draconian' conduct after fixed penalty parking notices were left on cars.But the tickets were the work of Chris Purkiss, 29, a handyman who had dressed as a traffic warden to celebrate the new year. "I thought it would be quite funny to go out dressed as a traffic warden, and I only put the tickets on cars of people I knew," said Mr Purkiss."The police took it in very good humour. Aides to President Barack Obama have been complaining this past of week of the President’s behavior during meetings. Speaking on condition of anonymity, several high-level staffers have said that the President has seemed distracted since being granted his super-secure blackberry device this past week. “He’s just always sitting there, not looking at anyone who’s talking to him, just staring at that stupid device.
